Bodybuilder/Powerlifter Since

From fourth grade onward, I ran track and field where I was later recruited by a D1 school for college. Running was my first passion and is where I developed a strong mental focus for bodybuilding. Not until about four years ago, however, did I start training “like a bodybuilder.” My entire life I enjoyed challenging my friends to lifting heavy objects in the yard, showing off while gardening with my mom that I could rip the bush out of the ground that she had been struggling with and even lifting my friends and family up either by holding them like a baby or by walking around with them on my shoulders.

I then discovered that I could do something with that strength and passion and decided to go for it. After graduating with my degree in journalism from Temple University, I knew it was time to focus on my true passion – bodybuilding. I am currently preparing for my first figure competition and will eventually compete as a powerlifter.

Some other passions of mine include writing, singing, cooking, eating, and animals.

Favorite Workout: Back and biceps. Love any type of row movement or curl.

Favorite Cheat Meal: If desserts are considered meals, count me in – especially chocolate – cake, cookies, chocolate truffles. I would eat all three as a meal if I could. But if that doesn’t count then I would have to say chicken and waffles, crab cake egg benedict (especially Miss Shirley’s in Roland Park, Maryland) or anything with black truffle (especially fries) – I can’t decide.

“Universal athlete Michelle Bresnahan likes to use a variety of cable movements and machines in her shoulder workout. The emphasis is on the pump and trying to force as much blood into the muscle to create a nice rounded cap.“
